  • Spike on social media 1- a student signing to play soccer at GC. Feb. 11- softball loss. Feb. 15- basketball win. Feb. 22- SGA election winners, homecoming results and other content pushed out by GC 360. Feb. 24- piece of artwork posted by an art student and tennis win.
  • Spike in media coverage- 9 – For AASCB accreditation for the College of Business and the Night to Shine event. Feb 14- Faculty member and students conduct research on tree-killing beetle and GC student create maps to help Tanzanian village. Feb. 22- athletic game recaps.

Two networks picked up on Cindy’s ash beetle infestation story and there was a positive piece on the numerous measures our public safety department takes to keep the University’s student body safe. The top 3 posts this month were videos (#1 was the old GC commercial). The fourth most popular post was the story of Night to Shine, which shows how much the GC campus community values stories of service. Finally, the 5thpost popular post was the Homecoming recap in photos. Overall growth was 1.9%, and there were 1,534,284 impressions (a growth of 116.2% since last month).

Instagram– 6,587

2.5% growth, 158 followers gained this month. The Homecoming hashtag #gchc17 had an engagement of 2,431. Instagram stories average views are around 2,000. The weekly “This Week in Bobcat Nation” published every Monday continues to be popular.

Twitter– 8,462

Top post: bacteriophages photo with zoomed in photos of students’ findings. The other top posts were the same as the Instagram and Facebook top posts.

Snapchat – best guess: 700

Judging by the average number of story views the account has been getting (650ish), the best estimate is roughly 700+ followers on Snapchat, in just 2 months. The account has gotten positive feedback and several organizations, students, staff, and even alumni, have reached out to express interest in contributing stories to the account.
