Highlights

City water issues brought the most media attention to campus this month. Brittiny Johnson, our Director of Public Relations, was featured multiple times on television describing the measures the school was taking to alleviate the inconveniences caused by pipes breaking outside the GC dorms. Those stories, along with one highlighting possible ways of fixing the repeated water main breakages, are highlighted above the break.

Social Media Summary:

Followers as of February 1, 2017:

YouTube– 105 subscribers

LinkedIn – 25,854 followers

Facebook: 13,766 likes

1.5% growth since last month. The historical photograph series (thanks to Evan Leavitt) was the most popular post, followed by the snow picture, Fulbright story, Cooking with Thunder video, and pergola picture.

Twitter: 8,434 followers

The Happy New Year gif was the most popular post, followed by the welcome back graphic, top nine photos of 2016, fog photo, and student headshots announcement.

Instagram: 6,437 followers

2.3% growth. We have been making more use of Instagram stories. Each Monday in January we posted a series of graphics announcing the big events of the week. This series, called “This Week in Bobcat Nation” (see photo collage for examples) featured 4-8 infographics that detailed announcements in fun, attention-grabbing ways. The series, much like Snapchat, lasted for 24 hours and in that period of time gathered, on average, 1,300+ views.

Snapchat – roughly 500 (Snapchat has no way to calculate number of followers, but actual viewership helps us get an idea)

Our Snapchat account launch has been a major success. Over the past month, the account has been “taken over” (We provide departments with log in information, meet to brainstorm content to produce over the week, and provide contracts to any students that will use the account) by Housing, Admissions, Athletics, and Panhellenic, and has produced a variety of content and engaging stories. In just one month, the average snap gets about 400 views which allows for us to estimate that we have over 400 (possibly 500+) followers.
