This month the primary focus was the countdown and coverage of the December 2016 Commencement ceremony. Several features were done on graduating seniors and smaller social media highlights were posted as well (ex: photo and quick facts). Something new that proved successful was the use of Facebook Live for the Commencement Ceremony, with 4,445 views and 486 reactions/comments/shares. The live tweets and Instagrams during the beginning of graduation worked out well also, with many people sharing posts that featured #GCSU16 to be featured on the big screen. The larger amount of stories at the beginning of this month expanded our reach (1,029,616 impressions), a goal to keep up in the new year. Not as much traffic was produced in the latter two weeks, but that can be attributed to the holiday season.

Twitter: 8,390 followers

Top posts:
  1. Homecoming announcement – 245 engagements
  2. “Happy Bobcat Friday!” – 31
  3. Mansion tree – 29
  4. Early Childhood rankings – 25
  5. Christmas day post – 24

The Homecoming concert was a major conversation starter! This proves that during Homecoming week Twitter will be vital. We will be looking out for more “conversation starters” in the upcoming weeks.

Instagram: 6,286 followers

Top posts:
  1. Parks holiday decorations – 500
  2. Gingko tree outside of Russell – 482
  3. Mansion Christmas tree – 455
  4. Sanford Hall porch – 455
  5. Homecoming concert poster – 397 (not including original post, which had to be taken down due to spelling error)

1.6% growth this month and the most likes occur with campus beauty photos. To push the GC Instagram forward, the next step would be to involve the community more, such as with Instagram challenges and sharing photos taken by students.
